The Union Township Board of Education on June 29 adopted a resolution (OB5) to join or renew membership in the New Jersey Schools Insurance Group (NJSIG) for a three-year period beginning July 1, 2026 and ending July 1, 2029. The resolution certifies the district has not defaulted on a claim or been canceled for non-payment of premium within the prior two years and ratifies NJSIG bylaws and operational documents.
The resolution notes that by participating the district jointly and severally assumes liabilities for participating members for types of coverage in which it participates and authorizes the Business Administrator, under the Public-School Contracts Law, to execute contracts and documents with NJSIG. The minutes reference statutory authority for school insurance trusts (N.J.S.A. 18A:18B-1 et seq.). The motion was approved and recorded in the minutes.
