Commission approves $2,500 to help fund Blackwater Adventure Rally

The Randolph County Commission on March 5 approved a $2,500 disbursement from Hotel/Motel tax funds to help cover Camp Pioneer fees for the Blackwater Adventure Rally. Organizers said the three-day event brought more than 400 riders to the county in 2025 and that rising campground costs threatened the events viability.
Organizer Zachary Burke told the commission the rally began as a father-and-son project and that it draws visitors who stay and spend locally. Charlie Trippett said ticket prices were about $200 last year and that the group ended 2025 about $14,000 in surplus after expenses. Commissioner Chris Siler said the event benefits local businesses and moved to approve the Hotel/Motel allocation, which the commission passed unanimously.
