City Planner Lassonde walked the council through the survey questions and ranked-amenity results from the virtual open house. She said paper surveys submitted at City Hall were entered online by staff and reiterated that the survey materials included background documents such as the Caswell Sports Bonding Request and a December 18, 2024 presentation. Lassonde told the council that the fourth question asked participants to rank 12 potential uses/amenities; a multi-use gymnasium was ranked #1 by 36.9% of respondents, an indoor walking track was ranked #1 by 21.9%, and a fitness equipment room was ranked #1 by 7.6%.
Lassonde also presented the survey’s food-service ranking: 34.7% of participants ranked a Bistro/Café as their top choice and 35.2% ranked standard concessions as the top choice. She noted that the survey originally listed tennis and pickleball separately because of tennis concerns over pickleball lines, and that after the survey tennis indicated lines would be acceptable — a change staff said may have influenced preferences if reflected during outreach.
