Councilors approved acceptance of a $100,000 MVP 2.0 Climate Resilience grant intended to bring equity and inclusion into the city's resilience planning. The grant supplements a prior $50,000 tranche used for equity and planning vendors; the newly approved funds are intended to move a seed project into implementation with community outreach, forums and pilot activities targeted at hard-to-reach groups.
Councilor Zeig said the tranche will help the city be more competitive for other grants and will support pilot programs and outreach to seniors and low-income school groups. The Department of Public Services plans to add $16,000 to the grant to reach an approximate $66,000 project budget; committee members noted the MVP 2.0 designation requires ongoing community engagement to retain eligibility for future funding.
