Council tables Longwood Avenue pavement-marking plan for more public input

Town Manager Bart Warner reminded the council that the town voted in Oct. 2024 to adopt 25 mph for Longwood and that the Streets Committee later asked staff to revisit whether to restore a 35-mph limit on a portion of the route. Council members and residents raised concerns about how the sketches would look in place, possible impacts on turning and emergency access, and whether the public had adequate notice to weigh in. One councilor recommended holding a public comment period like the earlier speed-limit discussion.
Council member discussion led to a motion to table the pavement-marking plan until the next council meeting to allow staff to produce clearer renderings and schedule public comment; the motion carried on a recorded vote with seven ayes. No changes to pavement markings were approved at this meeting.
