Pool renovations and shade improvements planned at Mildred and Dole Carlton Recreation Complex
Summary
Meredith Durastani told the board swim lessons begun in May have limited renovation access until November; the county has ordered new shade covers arriving this week and estimated pool resurfacing at roughly $100,000–$120,000 to be considered after swim season.

Meredith Durastani updated the board on the Mildred and Dole Carlton Recreation Complex renovation. She said swim lessons began in May and that substantial renovation work is scheduled for after the school swim season ends in November.
"We have ordered new shade covers, and they're to be delivered this week," Durastani said. She added the company the county used previously for shade covers went out of business, requiring a new vendor selection. Durastani noted work on pool lighting and two resurfacing projects: the pool interior resurfacing and a resurfacing of the pool entrance/walkway.
Durastani provided an informal cost estimate for the interior pool resurfacing of about $100,000 to $120,000 and said that the team will assess remaining EDA grant funds after swim concludes to determine whether to request additional funding.
Board members asked clarifying questions about surfacing scope and funding. The presentation was informational; no formal action or funding request was made at this meeting.
