BLDC to host three-part housing series aimed at converting Uptown storefronts to homes

Kelly Sullivan, executive director of Butte Local Development (BLDC), told the Economic Development Committee on Aug. 5 that the organization will run a three-part housing-development series aimed at encouraging redevelopment of vacant upper-floor spaces in Uptown Butte. "So September 3, October 13, and November 9… from about 5 to 06:30," Sullivan said, inviting commissioners to attend.
Sullivan said the program will bring building owners, developers and contractors together with panelists to address barriers to converting upper floors to housing, and that outreach will include social media, posters and partner networks such as the local Realtors Association. Committee members said they welcomed the effort given the number of vacant spaces and high costs associated with rehabilitation.
