President Terri A. Weems announced that Secretary Dr. David N. Turner had agreed to temporarily serve beginning in December 2024 after the resignation of former Trustee Mable Fox and had formally notified the board of his intent to resign, effective at 11:59 p.m. on June 17, 2025. The board conducted scheduled interviews between 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., hearing from applicants including Sara Huvaere, Clark Doughty, James Nolan Munce, William Lubaway, Wynter Wyrick-Fahoome, John Farris, Kevin J. Hammer, Gwendolyn Brantley, Brytani Wright, Amber Richmond and Ronald Recinto; Abid Turpen did not attend his scheduled interview, and candidate Hosea Williams, Jr. withdrew his application earlier that day.
