Marysville Board appoints Barry Kreiner to fill vacant trustee seat through 2026

The Marysville Public Schools Board of Education on Aug. 7 appointed Barry Kreiner to fill a vacant trustee seat through Dec. 31, 2026, following interviews of three applicants. The motion to appoint Kreiner was moved by Trustee Colleen Dodson and supported by Trustee Kirk Smith; the Board voted 6–0 in favor. Amanda Busch was recorded as absent.
The appointment follows an interview process in which the Board considered three candidates for the existing vacancy. The minutes note that the appointee will be replaced by the individual elected in the November 2026 election, with the elected person scheduled to take office Jan. 1, 2027. Superintendent Tracie Eschenburg was present at the meeting.
President Dave Schmorrow read the Board's public-comment guidance at the start of the meeting, reminding attendees that the Board limits the citizen-comment portion to 30 minutes and will not address items not on the agenda. "Thank you for attending the Marysville Public Schools Board of Education Meeting," Schmorrow said as he read the statement to the room. The minutes record the formal motion to appoint Kreiner and the unanimous vote in favor.
