Parker approves MOU with Arizona DPS to expand commercial vehicle enforcement

The Town of Parker Common Council approved a memorandum of understanding with the Arizona Department of Public Safety to allow the town’s Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance–certified officer to perform level 1 inspections and enforce federal motor carrier safety regulations. Chief Daley said the MOU establishes authority to place vehicles and drivers out of service when violations are found and described no direct staffing or equipment impacts beyond the department’s current certification.
Chief Daley identified Rochelle Silva as the town’s certified officer and said she previously worked with DPS. "She came from DPS…she was our CVEB officer for the last, I’m gonna say, probably 6, 8 years," Chief Daley said during the presentation. Council moved and approved the MOU by voice vote; staff will sign and return the agreement to DPS as the next administrative step.
