Panel backs transfer of Leisure Lanes' Class B liquor license to new owner; members note only one Class B remains

The licensing panel recommended that the common council approve the transfer of Old Leisure Lanes’ Class B beer-and-liquor license to the business’s new owner, Svensson, as part of an ownership transfer. Staff explained the sale and the license transfer: "Old leisure lanes sold the business to Svensson, and so they're just kinda taking on the class b, both, liquor and beer licenses."
Committee members moved and seconded the recommendation; a roll-call vote recorded Aye votes and the recommendation will be forwarded to the common council. During 'any business' discussion members noted Class B liquor licenses are numerically capped; staff confirmed "that's the 1 that we only have 1 left." The committee did not place additional conditions on the transfer; final approval rests with the common council.
The panel also briefly discussed that Class B licenses are limited in number and that only one remains available in the city’s quota, a factor prospective buyers should consider.
