Commission OKs $206,580 network upgrade for county recreation centers

Macon-Bibb County commissioners authorized a $206,580.49 agreement with 1 Accord Technologies to improve network infrastructure in county recreation centers, payable from the 2025 recreation IT upgrade fund. County Manager Keith Moffett told commissioners the project will upgrade cabling to fiber where needed and standardize technology across all rec buildings so staff can access reliable broadband and services.
"It is all the rec buildings. We need to upgrade the info. The technology," Moffett said, describing the contractor’s work to bring disparate centers to a consistent infrastructure level. Commissioner Kato asked which facilities would be upgraded and staff said the contract covers the full list of recreation centers, which are in varying stages of required improvements. The motion carried and the item was sent to the consent agenda.
