District reports PBIS capacity at 74% after state-recognized first-year steps

Tamasha James, the district’s Director of Equity and Inclusion, gave a Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) update to the committee on Nov. 13. James said the PBIS District Implementation Team met with the Kent Intermediate School District and reviewed Tier 1 priorities, which include identifying and defining expectations, teaching them, monitoring implementation, acknowledging positive behaviors and using data to guide decisions.
James reported that "the district Capacity Assessment has FHPS at 74% which is up from last year’s 57%" and that the district "has met 100% of its first year installation activities, secured funding for incentives, partnered and trained transportation, partnered and trained childcare, and has been recognized by the State of Michigan for its implementation." She outlined next steps but the minutes record the update rather than a formal policy change or vote.
