District staff outline junior kindergarten planning, site visits and communications next steps

Assistant Superintendent for Instruction Scott Haid told the Curriculum Committee on Nov. 13 that the district’s Junior Kindergarten Planning Team has begun site visits and planning. Haid said the team "has visited programs in Kentwood and Rockford and will visit programs in Hudsonville and Byron Center," and that department directors continue planning work.
Haid said the Communications Department will publish information on the district website to answer questions as planning progresses. He also noted the district’s AI Team will continue meeting to consider how artificial intelligence tools can be used within district operations and instruction. The minutes indicate ongoing planning rather than final decisions; the committee did not record a vote on junior-kindergarten implementation at this meeting.
