The Common Council approved multiple permit requests that allow community events and use of municipal facilities this spring and summer.
Approvals included a Discovery Way Trail build week (June 1–5) coordinated with Kaboom, requests to use Promen Shankel Stadium for several softball tournaments (dates in May and July), an 11U Lake Erie Lightning schedule, a Labor Day rally and march on May 1, a church service on May 23 at Memorial Park, and police presence to support a varsity baseball home game. The council repeatedly moved to refer requests to appropriate departments and approved each request subject to appropriate insurance and the usual conditions.
The body also approved multiple loudspeaker and microphone permits for community organizations — including the Dunkirk Veterans Club, Vivebond 5, the Dunkirk Historical Lighthouse, Faith Baptist Church, a ministry event and the Dunkirk Lakeside Club — after clerks called the roll and council members answered “Aye.”
