City staff announced a community workshop on shoreline improvement opportunities for Wright Park, scheduled for May 13 at 5:30 p.m. at the SUNY Fredonia Center for Innovation and Economic Development. The initiative leverages a grant from the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Cities Initiative and will present conceptual, nature‑based designs aimed at protecting the bluff and city infrastructure from erosion and fluctuating Lake Erie water levels.
"Community input is essential to guide the final conceptual design for nature based solutions to improve Dunkirk's resilience to fluctuating Lake Erie water levels," the city representative said. The announcement also noted interns from SUNY Fredonia will be distributing door hangers so residents can request street trees and indicate species preferences.
