Superintendent Jamie Kraatz informed trustees that the employee group STEOP is changing its name to STSSA and has discontinued its partnership with the Michigan Education Association (MEA), forming its own association. The superintendent said contract negotiations with the newly named STSSA are expected to begin at the end of June and that the results of those negotiations will be brought to the board for action when completed.
Kraatz also said a transportation contract reopener is scheduled to start later in June; both processes were identified as the primary contract-related items the board should expect this summer. The minutes record these scheduling and process notes but do not include bargaining positions, proposed changes, or timelines beyond the month when negotiations will begin.
