Work group adds Interagency Commission on School Construction to first recommendation

A committee member proposed and the group approved an amendment to add the Interagency Commission on School Construction (IAC) to Recommendation 1's list of responsible or coordinating agencies for pedestrian-safety infrastructure at the time of school construction.
"So I'll make an amendment to add IAC, to that list," Timothy Meyer said while reading public comment and offering the suggested edit. The motion was seconded and the chair called the question; members voted in favor of the amendment.
Members said adding IAC clarifies which state-level coordination body should be included when new schools are planned, alongside the county and State Highway Administration. The change is intended to ensure interagency coordination during site planning and design so pedestrian-safety measures are integrated early in construction projects.
