Mayor announces county win and council accepts resignation

The meeting opened with Mayor (S1) announcing she won election to the county and that she will no longer serve as mayor after 11:59 p.m. tomorrow. "As you know, I won my election last week... as of tomorrow night at 11:59PM, I will no longer be your mayor," the mayor said, and council members moved to accept the resignation.
Councilors discussed the process for appointing a new mayor and confirmed the mayor pro tem would assume duties if no appointment is made. The council noted the mayor pro tem would retain voting privileges but not mayoral veto powers. A motion to accept the resignation carried on a voice vote with no opposition; council also discussed that any appointment would still need to be put on the ballot at the next election cycle.
