Novi board approves renaming of three district facilities, effective Aug. 1, 2025
Summary
The board adopted a resolution renaming the Sixth Grade House to Novus Center, the ITC to Educational Services Building, and the Educational Services Building to Novi Wellness Center; the superintendent is authorized to implement the changes.
The Novi Community School District Board of Education approved a resolution on May 15 that will rename multiple district facilities effective Aug. 1, 2025. The Sixth Grade House will become the Novus Center (to house the Japanese School of Detroit, Novi4All Learning Center, Novi Adult Transition Center and Novi Robotics Center); the Instructional Technology Center will be renamed the Educational Services Building and will house the board room and administration offices; and the current Educational Services Building will be renamed the Novi Wellness Center.
Board discussion included clarification of the term “Novus” (noted by the board to derive from Latin meaning “new”) and administrative authorization for the superintendent or designee to update signage, communication materials and district maps. The resolution was moved and seconded and then declared adopted.
