Grand County approves $25,000 conservation-trust match for Hot Sulphur Springs pickleball courts (contingent on GOCO grant)

Representatives from the Town of Hot Sulphur Springs asked the commissioners for $25,000 in Conservation Trust funds to help rehabbing courts and converting tennis courts to pickleball courts, part of a larger project priced at roughly $420,000 and intended to be submitted as a GOCO grant match. Dan Nolan and citizen Rob Firth described high local demand for pickleball and said the town survey showed 91% support among respondents. The county motion specified the $25,000 would be contingent on receipt of a GOCO invitation to apply.
Commissioners discussed equitable distribution of the county contribution across commissioner districts and approved an equal split with an “extra penny” from District 3, per the motion. "I move that we approve the conservation trust fund request... in the amount of $25,000 contingent upon receipt of the GOCO grama with equal distribution from the districts," a commissioner said before the unanimous vote.
