Commissioners pass 2024 budget supplementals and adopt Grand County 2025 budget

Grand County commissioners approved five supplemental budget resolutions to close out FY2024 and then adopted the county's fiscal‑year 2025 budget. Curtis Lang (Accounting) outlined requests including a $2.7 million transfer from the general fund to capital for an EMS land purchase, a $3,000 adjustment for the Emergency Telephone Service Authority fund, a $130,000 retirement fund supplemental, a $30,000 Conservation Trust Fund supplement, and $750,000 for the Employee Insurance Fund to cover higher claims and filled vacant positions. Each supplemental was presented and approved by recorded motion.
After the FY2024 supplemental items, the board adopted the 2025 budget by motion. Accounting staff said total county expenditures are about $114,855,000 with revenues of approximately $115,477,000. Property tax mills remain at 16.905 and property tax is projected at about $24,319,000 (~25% of the budget). Commissioners also adopted the 2025 Housing Authority budget (revenues ~ $3.694M; expenditures ~$3.8M) and approved a revised budget message adding language recognizing agricultural contributions to the county economy. "I move that we approve resolution number 2024-12-15... approving and adopting a budget for Grand County for fiscal year 2025," a commissioner said before the unanimous vote.
