Doctor Johnson told the steering committee that CCPS has already submitted its implementation plan to the Maryland State Department of Education and that MSDE has returned questions that will require small revisions before the plan moves to AIB.
She said, “I just received an email today to say that they have a couple questions about a couple items,” and that staff will revise and resubmit. Johnson also said expert review teams will visit one elementary school per county this year; Calvert’s selected school is PAC Elementary and the county’s visit will focus on mathematics, though no date was available at the meeting.
Johnson identified upcoming deliverables tied to those reviews: the draft elementary comprehensive math plan is due on the 16th and the final draft on the 30th; the MVC data submissions and the first renewal for MVC are also upcoming. Committee members asked staff to bring a brief update to the Board of County Commissioners before the budget cycle to show progress and next steps.
No formal votes were taken specifically on these submissions; staff will take the MSDE questions into account and resubmit materials for AIB consideration.
