The Utah State Tax Commission voted unanimously June 5 to submit a proposed repeal of R873-22M-20, the rule that had provided for aircraft registration. Commissioner Rebecca L. Rockwell presented the item and said the change follows recent legislation shifting aircraft registration responsibility to the Department of Transportation.
"Because the Tax Commission no longer registers aircraft, this rule is unnecessary and can be repealed," Commissioner Rebecca L. Rockwell said, moving that the Commission submit the amendment for publication in the Utah State Bulletin. The amended rule is scheduled to be published July 1, 2025, with a public comment period ending July 31, 2025.
The Commission recorded a roll call vote and the motion passed unanimously. The repeal references Utah Code Ann. Sections 72-10-102 and 72-10-109 through 72-10-112, which were cited in the rule text and discussed by the Commission during the item.
