Engineers, commissioners probe water meters and trash logistics for West Ridge site

Engineering staff said the unit‑lot overlay does not change drainage, transportation or sewer, but that an ownership model with individually owned units requires separate water metering and utility accounts for each unit. “The main change for us here is the change from our normal standard for an apartment building — one water meter per apartment building — where the apartment manager needs to take care of billing the individual units themselves, and here where we've got the, the individual ownership,” the engineer (S8) said.
Commissioners pressed staff on trash collection logistics; one Commissioner (S4) asked whether two dumpsters would be adequate for 66 units and expressed concern that private roads might complicate residential service. Engineering agreed that residential service trucks generally do not drive on private roads and that collection strategy would have to be accounted for in project design; staff said revised utility drawings (including individual water metering) had been submitted and that engineering recommended moving forward with very few additional changes.
