Planning commission recommends West Ridge Village unit‑lot subdivision to hearing examiner

The Planning Commission voted to recommend approval of the West Ridge Village unit‑lot subdivision to the hearing examiner, authorizing the chair to sign the findings of fact.

Commissioner (S2) moved that the commission “recommend approval to the hearing examiner for the Westry Village unit lot subdivision…preliminary plat planning file” and the motion was seconded by Commissioner Taylor (S4). Keith (S3), the staff presenter, said the project is based on an approved site plan for a roughly 7.69‑acre parcel with 11 buildings and 66 units and that development permits for clearing and grading are pending release. “Once the site plan review was approved, the development permits for tree cutting and clearing and grading permit were turned into the city,” Keith said during his presentation.

Staff noted some inconsistent spellings in packet materials (the project is presented in staff documents as West Ridge Village, and the motion as read included alternate packet spellings such as 'Westry Village'); staff confirmed the site plan and building design themselves were not being amended by the unit‑lot overlay. Keith also told the commission the SEPA threshold determination for the project was released Oct. 30 and that the comment and appeal period ends tomorrow at 4:30 p.m.; no written comments had been received as of the meeting. The commission signaled 'aye' on the motion with no recorded opposition, advancing the application to the hearing examiner.
