Calvert schools say key Blueprint reports submitted; district to work on multiyear finance plan

Calvert County Public Schools staff told the Blueprint Implementation Committee that they have submitted several required documents to state reviewers but still need to resolve a drafting concern that is blocking approval of the career ladder.

Dr. Johnson said the district has "submitted our comprehensive math plan to the AIB and to MSDE for their review," and that the private pre-K provider memorandum of understanding and related reports have also been filed. She said the career-counseling fiscal report is due Oct. 15 and an NBC fee-incentive submission is scheduled for Oct. 4. Dr. Johnson added that the career ladder has not yet received approval and staff will revise wording in article 26 with association representatives before resubmitting.

Why this matters: the Blueprint requires both programmatic plans and financial clarity. Dr. Johnson told the committee the district has been assigned a strategic partner, Affton Partners, "to work with Calvert County to work through those funding requirements" and to help prepare the multiyear projections requested in Question 23. The district must show how new resources will be allocated to each pillar and how existing resources will be reallocated to meet blueprint expectations.

Staff emphasized the timeline for Question 23 work and asked committee members for patience while projections are prepared; no final dollar amounts were presented during the meeting. The chair said the committee should expect updates on this finance work in the coming months.
