PAB reports 24 complaints so far in 2024; ACC reviewed 12 cases, one charged

At the Aug. 28 meeting the PAB chair reported that, "so far this year... there has been 24 complaints as of, August 23," and that the volume is down from the same time last year. The chair said 12 cases had been reviewed by the Administrative Charging Committee (ACC), six were found ineligible for ACC review and one of the reviewed cases resulted in an administrative charge.
Board members pressed for more context beyond tallies, saying they typically receive only a brief description and the ACC recommendation (charged/not charged). The chair and county attorney emphasized that available case material is redacted to protect personal data, but the PAB can receive redacted outcomes and trend information for quarterly review. "Reviewing the outcomes does not necessarily mean reviewing the names," County Attorney John Norris said, citing statutory limits.
