Commissioners approve $82,681 change order for EMS Station 1 preconstruction engineering

"The amount of the change order is $82,681," said Jeff Hickam, county project manager, explaining the funding will finance engineering collaboration between the steel building manufacturer and the county design team and will be adjusted against the PEMB line when the guaranteed maximum price is received. Commissioner (speaker 3) moved to approve the change order and to allow stamping the shared signature after contractor Big Valley signs; the amendment and the motion were approved.
Legal counsel noted the county manager's existing contract signature authority limits and recommended a later resolution if the board wanted to delegate broader change‑order authority on the larger contract. Staff said further change orders could appear for long‑lead items such as electrical gear.
