Grand County staff says $1.4M Water Smart grant will fund Kaibab and Willow Creek restorations

Folk described Kaibab Park work as roughly 700 linear feet of stream restoration to improve temperatures, sediment mobility and riparian habitat; Willow Creek work will cover just over two miles below the reservoir and include process‑based restoration and beaver‑dam‑analog techniques intended to reconnect flood plains and improve habitat.
Commissioners praised the funding success and linked the work to prior efforts that restored fish passage below a former diversion near Granby. The county manager and staff discussed coordination with partners and noted the projects will increase public access and recreational opportunity in the project areas.
