San Mateo County Office of Education adopts 2026'27 LCAP after staff corrects fiscal table glitch

The San Mateo County Board of Education approved the San Mateo County Office of Education's proposed 2026-2027 Local Control and Accountability Plan after a staff presentation and Board discussion.
Coordinators Gracie Estrella and David Rennie and Manager Rosalie Bowman presented the annual summary report on LCAP implementation and Local Indicators. Board members questioned the Office's scope and how approval works; Estrella said county non-approval of a district LCAP is rare and limited to template or compliance problems such as missing required prompts or failing to meet the Minimum Proportionality Percentage. Board Member Bonini asked about communication with the California Department of Education and the post-approval process.
During discussion of the County Office's own LCAP materials, Executive Director Sarah Notch identified a "technical glitch" that left outdated fiscal numbers showing in the Budget Overview for Parents; Superintendent Marco A. Che1vez said staff would include corrected numbers. After a motion by Board Member Beverly Gerard and a second by Board Member Chelsea Bonini, the proposed LCAP was approved by a vote of five in favor and two absent (Arias and O'Neill).
