Commissioner N. John Larsen updated the commission that window and door restoration work at the Swansea Friends Meeting House should be completed by the end of the month. He said the site was recently listed among the National Trust for Historic Preservation's "11 Most Endangered Historic Places," and that the National Trust provided $25,000 toward the effort.
Larsen said the Massachusetts Cultural Council awarded a $184,300 grant on May 15 that requires matching funds, and that $100,000 in Community Preservation Act (CPA) money approved at the last Town Meeting, together with prior CPA grants, covers the match. He said the funds will be directed toward site work and completing exterior restoration. The Commission recorded the update; no further votes were taken at the meeting.
