Mayor cites cross-agency emergency tabletop; Island County invites follow-up exercise

The mayor told the council that Chief Wasser and the mayor participated in a cross-agency emergency-management tabletop exercise last Friday that South Whidbey Fire and EMS sponsored, with participation from Central Whidbey Fire, Island County Sheriff, Island County Department of Emergency Management, Island County Roads and South Whidbey Prepares.
"Chief Wasser and I participated in cross agency emergency management tabletop exercise that was sponsored by South Whidbey Fire and EMS," the mayor said, and noted Island County has invited another tabletop exercise, likely in early June. The mayor described the exercises as opportunities for public agencies to learn how they can coordinate and improve preparedness.
The mayor also noted that Langley Main Street sponsored a well-attended presentation from the Department of Archaeology and Historic Preservation about preservation opportunities and funding; no specific city actions were announced during the report.
