The Barker Central School District Board of Education voted unanimously July 22 to accept a $247,000 bid from RB Mac Construction Co. Inc. for courtyard renovation work.
Dr. Reimer told the board that after meeting with the project manager and other parties involved in the current capital project, district funding should cover the additional courtyard renovation. He said the lowest bidder, Sicoli, would not be able to commit to the work; RB Mac was the next-lowest bidder and was recommended because it was likely able to complete the work near the start of the school year. A significant portion of the cost was tied to a shade structure; the district plans to retain several existing trees and to consider a shade structure at a later date.
The motion to accept RB Mac Construction Co. Inc.'s bid for $247,000 was made by Mrs. Gow, seconded by J. Sweeney, Jr., and passed unanimously (Yes: 6, No: 0).
