Poulsbo approves $565,612 amendment to Oyster Plant Park handrail design contract

Parks and engineering staff presented a straightforward contract amendment to complete handrail design work for the Oyster Plant Park pier. Jeff told the council the amendment recognizes additional funding and extends the Railstar Engineering contract through the end of 2025 to include permit support and final design work. "This contract amendment recognizes additional funding of approximately dollars 5,600 and extends the Railstar engineering contract through the end of 25," Jeff said, describing the need to secure a permit specialist and finalize railing design.
Council moved the amendment and discussed in-house abilities and cost-saving steps; a motion to approve an amendment in the amount of $565,612 for the handrail design was made and carried. Staff said much of the railing work will be completed in-house where possible, saving costs, and the amendment covers the specialized engineering and permitting services that the city cannot perform internally.
