District outlines literacy goals, vertical articulation and three-year tech plan

Coordinator of Curriculum and Professional Learning C. Cornwell reported that each of the district's nine departments or grade bands adopted goals aligned with the district Strategic Plan: seven focus on literacy while others address student engagement. He described specific grade-band literacy strategies (KWL charts in PreK–1; writing acronyms for grades 2–4; comprehension strategies for grades 5–6; vocabulary and annotation strategies across other departments).
Cornwell also described technology work: a committee is drafting the district's three-year technology plan required by NYSED with a goal to complete much of the plan by the end of February for BOCES feedback and submit to NYSED by June 2026. Recent purchases include five Clear Touch boards, Chromebooks for ninth grade and replacement copy machines; the committee is considering using anticipated E-Rate revenue to replace wireless access points and main switches.
