The Barker Central School District Board of Education on Dec. 8 approved the 2026–27 budget calendar that sets key dates including a January review of the rollover budget, the first run of state aid in February, adoption of the property tax report card by April 14, a budget hearing on May 11 and the community vote on May 19, 2026. The calendar was approved by a 5–0 vote (motion by Mrs. Carnes; seconded by Mr. Sweeney, Jr.).
Superintendent J. Reimer told the Board the administration will input known factors into the rollover budget between December and January and that the tax-cap calculation is due to the state comptroller by March 1, 2026. He noted the district expects a slight decrease in total fund balance and anticipates using some reserve dollars; the Board will review an updated Reserve Fund Plan in January as part of budget development.
