Barrett Albright, Parks and Recreation, told the council the youth room at the community center is heavily used and that turf is difficult to sanitize and less versatile for rentals. "It would be most likely we would, seek carpet for that room," Albright said, adding carpet would increase usability for children, be easier to maintain and likely improve rental potential.
Councilmembers asked about current rental rates and the return on investment; Albright said the room has been rented several times—usually in conjunction with banquet room rentals—and that while replacement costs may not be immediately offset by rental fees, a more usable space could increase demand. Staff will include the request among supplementals for council consideration.
