The Board received a financial update from M. Carter on the property tax levy and municipal rate changes for 2025–26.
Mr. Carter reported the tax levy increased from $5,157,400 to $5,283,993, "an increase of 2.45%," and described how rates changed in the district’s five municipalities; Somerset’s library level was reported at $98,824. He told trustees the district is the only one that manages tax payment receipt itself and that processing takes two to three weeks; he anticipates tax bills will be mailed around Labor Day after county approvals.
Carter said the external audit has been relatively uneventful but the Business Office is working through national standards with auditors and will provide an update at the September Audit Committee meeting. He also noted unexpected credits for private placements will revise final 2024–25 numbers.
