Lorain County asks auditor to certify 9-1-1 levy revenue scenarios for November ballot

The board requested estimates for three scenarios: a .50‑mill renewal, a .75‑mill levy (renewal plus .25 increase) and a 1.0‑mill option (renewal plus .50 increase), each modeled for five years.
Commissioner David J. Moore said the request is intended to help the board determine the appropriate millage to sustain Lorain County 9‑1‑1 operations. The board adopted Resolution 26‑296 requesting the auditor’s certification under Ohio Revised Code Section 5705.03; if the board proceeds, the measure would be placed on the November ballot for collection beginning 2028.
The resolution directs the auditor to return dollar‑amount estimates for each option so commissioners can decide whether to combine or renew existing levies. Commissioners said they will review the auditor’s certification and determine final ballot language and timing as part of a future action.
