Claymont City board approves special meeting agenda; hears funding and consolidation presentations

The Claymont City School District Board approved its special meeting agenda 4–0, heard presentations on school funding and building consolidation options from district officials, took public questions and heard four public commenters before adjourning at 7:31 p.m.
The Claymont City School District Board of Education met in special session on March 16, 2026, at Claymont Middle School and approved the meeting agenda by roll call vote. Ms. Campbell moved to approve the agenda and Mrs. Wolf seconded; Ms. Campbell, Mrs. Wolf, Mrs. Grandison and Mr. Peters voted yes and the motion carried.
District Treasurer Kim Beckley presented information on school funding and Superintendent Brian Rentsch presented possible building consolidation options. After those presentations the administration answered submitted questions in a facilitated Q&A led by Brian Watkins, and the Board opened the floor to public comment. Greg DiDonato, James Zucal, Holly Lloyd and Kevin Johns addressed the Board during the public forum. Ms. Campbell moved to adjourn and Mrs. Grandison seconded; the meeting adjourned at 7:31 p.m.
