Claymont board authorizes appeal over 4.2-mill reallocation

The Claymont City School District Board of Education on Feb. 9 unanimously authorized legal counsel to file an appeal with the Ohio Board of Tax Appeals unless the Tuscarawas County Budget Commission acknowledges the board’s April 14, 2025 reallocation of 4.2 mills of inside millage for permanent improvements by March 1, 2026.
The addendum resolution was added to the agenda by motion of Board Member Mrs. Host and seconded by Ms. Campbell, and the board recorded a unanimous roll-call vote in favor. The board approved the same resolution again under New Business; the vote on New Business was also unanimous. The resolution directs the board’s legal counsel to proceed with an appeal if the Commission does not act by the stated deadline.
