The Buford City Commission voted unanimously on June 1 to annex the property at 4300 Thompson Mill Road (Plat #729) into the city. The applicant, Casey Nelson, said he wanted his lot included because surrounding properties are already in the City; Gwinnett County raised no objection.
The Commission approved the annexation with conditions that would apply if the existing house is removed and rebuilt: any new dwelling must have a minimum gross heated floor area of 3,400 square feet (exclusive of garage or basement), a minimum two-car garage, four-sided brick or stone construction with a 20% accent allowance on elevations (examples listed in the staff report), an 18-foot minimum driveway width, sodded front/side/rear yards and two ornamental trees planted in the front yard. The conditions were included as part of the annexation approval and must be met before final building permits are issued.
