The Mahwah Township Public School District superintendent, Doctor Detoro, told the board on Aug. 5 that new-teacher orientation is underway and that "the new teachers are finishing their 3rd day today." He said the sessions have been productive and staff-led.
Detoro described the professional development topics covered, including special education, data-informed instruction, small-group instruction and questioning/discussion techniques. "They're a great group," he added, thanking Doctor Faire for organizing the agenda and staff presenters.
Doctor Faire said Doctor Morphee greeted new hires on the first day and that photos from the summer event will be presented on the district's Aug. 26 board agenda. The updates come as the district prepares for the school year and reviews instructional expectations for new hires.
The report contained no staffing decisions or budget figures; the remarks were presented as informational to the board and the public.
