Board Chair Aaron described an Arbor Day Foundation web program that lets homeowners select trees, map planting locations and capture grant‑relevant data such as shade, energy savings and runoff reduction. He said the tool can export data for use in a local GIS and could help the board document private‑property plantings for future grants: "They basically trace around their home to identify it, and then they drop and drag the tree ... the program will tell you how much shade it will provide, how much energy it will save you, how much water runoff it will uptake."
Aaron said he spoke with a local contact who estimated a demonstration would cost about $1,000 and the platform's price model is roughly $20 per tree if the platform is used for tree selection. He asked for board interest in a demonstration; Scott and others indicated willingness to participate, and Aaron said he would pursue dates and a demonstration from Justin McQuade.
