Jasper CCSD 17’s board voted on Aug. 27 to let the superintendent expend funds prior to the final adoption of the fiscal year 2026 budget and to approve the district’s FY26 tentative budget.
The authorization to expend funds was approved on a motion by Board President Josh Zurliene, seconded by Caitlin Glisson; the board recorded votes of Justin Atwood — yes; Shawn Otey — absent; Jarad Blanton — absent; Caitlin Glisson — yes; Wesley Legg — yes; Josh Zurliene — yes (SEG 005). Later in the meeting, Zurliene moved and Wes Legg seconded a motion to approve the FY26 tentative budget as presented; the votes were recorded the same way (SEG 010).
The actions mean the district may make necessary expenditures ahead of formal budget adoption to cover immediate obligations. The board did not provide line-item details or a final adoption date in the minutes; the FY26 tentative budget was approved "as presented." The board’s next procedural step is the formal adoption of the final FY26 budget at a future meeting.
