Claymont board approves 2026 meeting schedule, committee appointments and administrative delegations

The Claymont City Board of Education approved its 2026 organizational items (Items A–O) at the Jan. 12 organizational meeting, establishing the regular meeting schedule and appointing board members to committees and external roles. The approved schedule lists monthly regular meetings at the Administrative Office at 6:00 p.m. on dates from January through December, including a special June 30 meeting.
Committee and representative appointments were recorded in the motion: Martha Campbell was named the OSBA Legislative representative and a member of Curriculum & Instruction; Lois Grandison was named OSBA Student Liaison and appointed to Curriculum & Instruction and Safety with Campbell; Cyndy Host was named Buckeye Career Center representative and assigned to Finance; other committee assignments and labor-management representatives were listed in the record.
The board also authorized a set of administrative delegations: the Treasurer was designated signatory for payroll and warrant checks, authorized to request advances from the County Auditor and to invest interim funds; the Superintendent was designated purchasing agent and authorized to employ teaching and nonteaching personnel as needed, subject to ratification at the next meeting. The board set mileage reimbursement to the IRS rate of $0.725 and set the district minimum wage to the Federal rate of $11.00 per hour. The motion carried by unanimous roll-call vote.
