Board grants tenure to school counselor, approves multiple personnel actions

The Barker Board voted to confer tenure on Allison Finitz in the area of School Counselor, effective Feb. 27, 2026. Superintendent J. Reimer and Principal M. Love praised Finitz’s community and student connections; the motion carried unanimously (Yes: 7, No: 0).
The Board also approved a leave of absence for Emily Smith beginning around May 4, 2026; appointed Virginia Hambruch as a mentor for the 2025–26 school year (pro-rated $750 stipend); appointed substitute nurses (Sara Bernard and Emily Rosenthal at $35/hour), substitute teachers and aides (Evan Cornwell at specified rates), district lifeguards (Gwendolyn Johnson and Sandra Lewis at $18/hour), and accepted the resignation of Jacqueline Cushman effective Dec. 31, 2025. All personnel motions recorded in the minutes were approved by unanimous vote where shown.
