C. Cornwell told the Board that the juniors’ January ELA Regents proficiency rate was 96%, which he said is the second-highest proficiency rate in seven years; the mastery rate was 28%, comparable to previous years. He congratulated students and secondary ELA teachers for the results.
Cornwell said district grade 3–8 CBT simulation testing for ELA, math and science ran smoothly and that the district expects to be operationally ready during the April–May testing window. He also described plans to apply for the Individual Arts Assessment Pathway (IAAP) in dance and visual arts for 2026–27, a locally determined 3-unit sequence and portfolio pathway that can serve as a 4+1 graduation option.
