During the meeting the Board reviewed first readings of multiple policies related to energy conservation, food service, records management and data security. Following discussion, the board approved a group of operational policies by motion, including 5610 (Insurance), 5620 (Inventories and Accounting of Fixed Assets), 5630 (Facilities: Inspection, Operation and Maintenance), 5631 (Hazardous Waste and Handling of Toxic Substances by Employees), 5632 (Pest Management and Pesticide Usage) and 5640 (Smoking/Tobacco Use).
The motion to approve these policies was made by Mr. Sweeney, Jr. and seconded by Mrs. Carnes; the vote was recorded as 6 yes, 0 no. The board also continued first readings on additional policy items listed in the meeting packet for future consideration.
Why it matters: These operational policies establish standards for facilities, safety and district asset management and reflect routine governance work necessary for district operations.
What’s next: Policies that had first readings will return for final consideration at a later meeting; implemented policies are in effect per board vote.
